Sunday Prayer (Psalm 144)

by | Sep 6, 2020 | Devotional

Lord,  Every believer here can think back to how you have been a help to them.

You are our help

Everyone who has put their trust in the Lord Jesus has experienced your loyal love.

You are our rock. Our fortress, shield, and deliverer.

We find our refuge in you. Our trust is in you.

It should humble us beyond all degree that you even notice us, let alone that you would desire a relationship with us.

What immense grace you, the eternal God, have shown us—we, who are like a breath and a passing shadow.

But yet your Son, God in human flesh, came down so that we could have peace with you through Him.

We are seemingly insignificant mortals, quickly passing away. Without you, we would have nothing.

Thank you for knowing us.

We will sing a new song to you.

We will sing your praises for loving us and for saving us.

Thank you for the victory over sin and victory over death we have in Christ.

Thank you for the blessings we enjoy—material and spiritual.

Our earthly life isn’t always peace and prosperity.

We face difficulties, enemies, trials, and suffering.

Please give us wisdom to respond to trials with joy.

Increase our faith to love our enemies.

And help us to keep our hope and trust fixed on you, our God, who promises eternal peace and prosperity to come.

How happy we can be that you, O God, are our Lord.

Amen.
