This is the latest in the series of corporate prayers for Sunday worship that I’m writing from the Psalms, working through them in reverse order.

Lord, we wholeheartedly praise you from within our inmost being.

Our soul’s response is Hallelujah. “Praise the Lord.” 

We commit ourselves to a life of praise, affirming your goodness for as long as we live. 

We trust in you, not mortal men—no matter how powerful they might seem. 

We trust in you for help and deliverance. 

You, the creator of heaven and earth, are our help. 

You, the eternally faithful one, are our hope. 

When it comes to meeting our needs, we trust in you because you alone are perfectly trustworthy. 

You know our needs. 

This world, marred by sin, is a world of injustice, oppression, and poverty. 

You are the Corrector of Wrongs. The Just One. The Provider for the needy. 

You know our spiritual needs. 

We were in bondage to sin. 

We were spiritually blinded. 

Yet, you set prisoners free. 

You open the eyes of the blind. 

You know our burdens of discouragement and oppression. 

Not only are you aware of our burdens, you care for us. 

Thank you for lifting us up when we are bowed down with our burdens. 

Thank you for your love. 

You love the righteous. 

So help us to live right in your eyes. 

We have your warning that the way of the wicked leads only to ruin. 

Please increase our faith that we would give you our obedience and trust. 

We praise you—our just and faithful God who reigns now and forever.
