This is the latest in the series of corporate prayers for Sunday worship that I’m writing from the Psalms, working through them in reverse order.

Lord, thank you for the privilege to gather today and do what is good, and pleasant, and fitting—and that is to give you our praise. 

We praise you because in your strength, you control creation, sustain life, and offer us renewed strength. 

You cover the heavens with clouds.

You prepare rain for the earth, and make grass to grow upon the mountains. 

You have blessed us with peace, and security, and food, and children. 

We recognize you control all creation. 

You control the heat and the cold, the sun, snow, frost, and ice. 

We humbly come before you, not only our physical sustainer, but as our spiritual sustainer. 

You are the source of our strength. 

We are not self-sufficient. 

Please give us strength to be meek. 

Forgive us when we’re proud and exalt ourselves instead of depending on you to lift us up with your own strength.  

Our own abilities and power are nothing. 

Help us to recognize our dependency on you and live like we are dependent on you. 

We praise you, Lord. 

We fear you, God. 

We hope in your mercy. 

We depend on you to heal our broken hearts and to bind up our wounds. 

We are grateful that you have made your judgments known to us in your Holy Word. 

Build us up with the preaching and reading of your powerful Word.

Sovereignly work through the members of the Body of Christ to build up each member.

Powerfully work in our lives to do what is needed to mature us in Christ.

Thank you for taking pleasure in us.
